OTTAWA SUPEREX
Last Thursday evening the Board of
Directors of the CCEA met to discuss the future of the Annual Exhibition.
- It was decided that the operation of SuperEX would be suspended for 2011.
This will mark
the first time since 1888 that no Exhibition will be held at
Lansdowne
Park
with the exception of during both World Wars.
This decision was taken for the following
reasons:
- Due to the redevelopment of
Lansdowne
Park,
we can no longer use that site.
- Prohibitive cost to operate on any temporary site for 2011.
- Infrastructure required to host an Exhibition on our land in
the south end of the city will not be in place in time for this August.
Moving forward the Board of the Central
Canada Exhibition is committed to continuing discussions with the City and
others to have our home in the south end of
Ottawa become a reality for 2012.
