SUPEREX 2005 explores its rural heritage in the Pure Country Pavilion.
Families continue to gather each year as this historic Pavilion is transformed into an educational and animal focused attraction. There are many free daily activities centred in the Show Ring as well as educational exhibits. Experience a taste of rural life without leaving the Pavilion.
This Pavilion will provide (11) hours of daily entertainment and as a result it is very appealing to both the young and old. Some people call it the Aberdeen Pavilion others have known it as the Cattle Castle.
Each year for 11 days, we call it the “Pure Country Pavilion” Nevertheless; it is a beautiful structure consisting of 44,000. Sq ft and it is a showcase by itself.

4H COMPETITVE SHOWS

Every day local 4H Club youth showcase different animals in the Show Ring under the scrutinizing eyes of a judge. Cash prizes are awarded to youth who place high in the daily competitions.
HORSES GALORE
A range of horses can be enjoyed daily in the Show Ring – not only can you watch them but you can ride them!

This activity brings back memories or experiences that were a taste of life over 150 years ago when riding a horse in the City of Ottawa was a common form of transportation. Bare-back rides - one of the most popular rides at SuperEX - are available free of charge.

See the beautiful Halflinger breed hitched to a wagon as the six horses tempt you for free wagon rides.

A SALUTE TO EARLY BYTOWN (OTTAWA)
2005 marks the 150th anniversary of Ottawa’s founding. To commemorate the event, the Pure Country Pavilion offers some special exhibits and programming.
A TRIBUTE TO BYTOWN – OTTAWA:

Attired in period costume, local historian Coral Lindsay, will present an animated talk on the early days of lumbering in Ottawa as practiced 150 years ago. Her “classroom” will be an authentic recreation of a lumberman’s shanty and cook house, built to scale with century old logs retrieved from the Ottawa River. The shanty contains artifacts from the era.

The
historic and recently restored Aberdeen Pavilion is host to
"When
Lumber was King" during the 2005 edition of the Central
Canada's Exhibition's 'SuperEx'. With assistance from sponsors
such as Logs End Inc. and the New Ontario Trilium Foundation
and volunteers from the Rideau Township Historical Society,
the CCE is helping the city celebrate its 150th anniversary
with a tribute to the 19th century lumbermen of Bytown and
Ottawa.
